I Drink to the Dead

I drink to the dead
To drown my sorrows
I drink to the dead
To squelch the pain
I drink to the dead
As I am bewildered
I drink to the dead

I drink to the dead
To fuel indignation
I drink to the dead
To seethe my anger
I drink to the dead
Because I have no one to kill
I drink to the dead

I drink to the dead
Because I feel inadequate
I drink to the dead
Because I don't know what to do
I drink to the dead
It’s the only difference I can feel
I drink to the dead

I drink to the dead
To wash away their faces
I drink to the dead
To wash them all away like sticks down the Godavari
I drink to the dead
Because there are too many
Too many
I drink to the dead

I drink to the dead
Because I am a fool
Finding excuses
To be ineffective

Perhaps it is time

To put down my drink

I like this poem, the endinf sum it all up. "I drink to the dead" is not in my head.

So many problems yet so few solutions it is no wonder so many can do no more than drink to the dead.
